ABOUT US

ABOUT US

OPM Radio is a 24/7 Digital Audio Multicast music stream service launched in 2021 by media content specialist and former Philippine FM radio host, Ken Fortun. It is a manifestation of personal support to Filipino music and the arts, whilst taking inspiration and guidance from E.O. 255 (Series of 1987) which makes it mandatory for all broadcast stations in the Philippines to regularly and consistently promote Filipino songs and artists.

“The Philippines is blessed with musical talent, and the music comes from the (Filipino) heart. Filipino music is not commonly played by radio stations overseas, and this leads to Filipino artists getting forgotten, and love for OPM becoming less.” OPM Radio is a global bridge to make Filipino music (and artists) accessible to every Filipino living abroad. It is a nationalistic contribution to the development and continued propagation of Filipino music across geographical boundaries while reinforcing a sense of pride and nationalism amongst Filipinos. Personally, “listening to Filipino music is what reminds me of who I am, and what I’m made of (as a Filipino), and this is an experience worth sharing with all.”

Filipino music is great soul food, and OPM Radio is a safe unadulterated environment where great Filipino music is served daily and graciously.

Jay Mercado

Programming Consultant

Jay is publicly known as a historian on anything PBA! Professionally, he’s an excellent education administrator in one of Manila’s medical institutions. But Jay also has a knack for Filipino music and artists we have not heard about and that makes his contributions even more valuable as they usually are not popular culture, yet worth a second look (hear).
